Rayagada: Two first-year Plus II students riding a motorcycle died following a head-on collision with a bus in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Debendra Sabar and Bishnu Sabar, both residents of Gudari.
According to sources, the accident took place at Palupai under Ramanaguda police limits when the duo was on their way to Kolnara’s Badisola College from Gudari. The impact was so severe that both students suffered critical injuries. Local residents rushed them to the nearby Ramanaguda Community Health Centre, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Following the accident, tension gripped the region as angry residents blocked the road, demanding stern action against the car driver and proper compensation for the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, Ramanaguda police have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain the circumstances, leading to collision.
