Two Sporting Venues In Cuttack City To Be Converted Into COVID Care Centres

Cuttack: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has decided to converted two major sporting venues in the city – Barabati Stadium and Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium – into COVID Care Centres.

Commissioner CMC Ananya Das reviewed the preparations of setting up COVID Care Centres at these venues on Wednesday. 

According to official sources, 75 beds have already been set up at Barabati Stadium and it is ready to accommodate asymptomatic low-risk COVID-19 positive patients.

These beds have been put up in the AC Corporate Boxes. There will be around 150 beds in the indoor stadium and work on it is in progress.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in the city touched 486 on Thursday. With eight deaths and 236 recoveries, Cuttack city now has 242 active cases.

The Millenium City is under complete lockdown till July 31. It has seen a steady rise in COVID-19 cases with 172 people testing positive for the virus in the last seven days. Of the 57 positive cases in Cuttack district on July 22, 54 were reported from the city.
