Nuapada: Two women were killed and a minor boy sustained critical injuries in a wall collapse incident triggered by heavy rain at a village in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Sunday.
As per information, the incident took place at an under-construction poultry farm at Patkarpali village under the jurisdiction of Lakhana police station in in the morning.
The deceased have been identified as Balamati Shabara (35) and her aunt Rupe Shabara (61). The minor, identified as Ridhi Shabara, who accompanied them, was critically injured in the mishap.
Locals said the mishap took place when the two women visited the poultry farm. A section of the wall gave way following incessant rainfall, trapping them beneath bricks and cement debris. Balamati was the wife of Dibakar Shabara, who is supervising the poultry farm’s construction.
On being informed, police personnel from Lakhana visited the site, rescued the injured boy, and immediately admitted him to a nearby hospital. The bodies of the two women were also recovered from the rubble and sent for postmortem.
