Uber And Bajaj Join Hands To Install Protective Barriers In Autos
Mumbai: Ride-hailing app Uber and autorickshaw maker Bajaj on Wednesday announced that they will be installing safety partitions in one lakh autos across the country.
The partition will help reduce contact among passengers, which is such a critical factor to fight COVID-19. A safety kit having face masks, hand sanitizers and vehicle disinfectants will also be added in the autos.
This service will be rolled out in 20 cities including New Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Madurai.
Uber is also imparting mandatory specialized training, via its Uber app, on the use of PPE (personal protective equipment), and sanitisation protocols.
Rival Ola has also ramped up safety measures. In addition to masks, the company is providing free vehicle fumigation by trained personnel using hospital-grade equipment every 48 hours for its fleet. Ola is sending regular notifications to drivers with locations of nearest Safety Zones.
