Udaipur Beheading: Culprits Arrested, NIA Team Dispatched, Internet Suspended
Udaipur: Udaipur police on Tuesday evening arrested two persons who brutally murdered a shopkeeper in broad daylight.
According to police, the two accused were identified as Gaus Mohammed and Riyaz, both residents of Surajpole in Udaipur. They were trying to flee when they were caught by the cops.
The two men attacked the shopkeeper, named Kanhaiya Lal, with knives and chopped off his head. They recorded a video admitting to killing the man over a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma.
The incident sparked tension in the city, and curfew was imposed in the area after demonstrators took to the streets to protest the murder.
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team was rushed to Udaipur, ANI reported quoting sources.
ADG Law and Order, Hawa Singh Ghumaria, said 600 police personnel and senior officers have been sent to Udaipur, as Rajasthan is on high alert.
Internet services have been suspended for 24hours in parts of Udaipur.
