New Delhi: Uncertainty continues to cloud the release of ‘Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder’.
In the latest move, the film’s producers moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s July 10 stay order, even as the petitioners against the release presented their case before the Central government on Monday.
The Supreme Court has listed the matter for hearing on Tuesday.
Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia, who appeared for the filmmakers, appealed for an urgent hearing in the Supreme Court against the Delhi HC ruling.
Bhatia submitted to the court that the film was set to be released in theatres on Friday the 11th, but the high court stayed its release at 8 pm on Thursday.
The petitioners had told the high court that the sole purpose of the film is to vilify one particular (Muslim) community, and it is the worst form of hate speech.
