UK Imposes Stricter Rules As COVID Cases Increase; £200 Fine For Not Wearing Mask

London: In the wake of a second wave of COVID-19 cases in the UK, the government has imposed stricter restrictions with Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking people to work from home and reducing pub timings.

Here are the detailed rules:

  1. Office workers asked to work from home again if possible.
  2. Penalties for not wearing mask or maintaining social distancing has been increased to £200 for the first offence.
  3. All pubs, bars and restaurants will be restricted to table service only. Takeaways can continue.
  4. Hospitality venues must close at 10 pm.
  5. Face coverings a must for taxi drivers and passengers, as well as in public places like banks, supermarkets, shops, building societies, post offices, places of worship, museums, galleries and entertainment venues, libraries and public reading rooms.
  6. Retail staff and customers in indoor hospitality venues will also have to wear masks from Thursday, except when seated at a table to eat or drink.
  7. Only 15 people allowed to attend weddings and 30 for funerals.
  8. Indoor adult sports in groups of less than six are allowed.
