Unemployment Rate Shoots Up In Odisha Amid COVID-19 Pandemic!

Bhubaneswar: The rate of unemployment in Odisha has gone up amid the COVID-19 pandemic, says a survey report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

According to the survey, the unemployment rate in the state, which was 1.4% in August, touched 2.1% in September.

However, in terms of the state-wise analysis with regard to the minimal rise in the rate of unemployment, Odisha ranks third after Chhattisgarh (2%) and Assam (1.2%).

In terms of the highest unemployment rate, Uttarakhand tops the chart with 22.3% followed by Haryana (19.7), Tripura (17.4), Jammu & Kashmir (16.2), Goa (15.4), Rajasthan (15.3), Delhi (12.5), Himachal Pradesh (12), Bihar (11.9) and West Bengal (9.3).

On the other hand, going by the national average, the rate of unemployment in India had come down from 8.35% in August to 6.67% in September.
