The examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be held in two shifts from 9 am to 12 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Stating that the application process for JEE Main started on Wednesday, he said the candidates can apply till January 16. The fees can be paid online at www.jeemain.nta.nic.in upto January 17.

The Union minister further said the result of JEE Main February session will be announced in March. The first session will be held from February 23 to 26 and its results will be declared within five days from the last date of examination, he added.

JEE Mains will be held in 13 languages. These include English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Odia and Malayalam, Pokhriyal said.

Referring to the new paper pattern, he said there will be no negative marking in 15 alternative questions. The candidates have to attempt 75 questions out of 90 or 25 out of 30 questions in each section of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

“To determine the ranking of the candidates, Pokhriyal said the NTA will calculate best marks for the ranking. “Even if a student appears in the four sessions, the NTA will calculate his/her best marks out of the four examinations,” he said.
