Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s March 26 Odisha Visit Postponed

Bhubaneswar: The proposed visit of Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah to the state on March 26 has reportedly been postponed.

Sources said as per information received from New Delhi, the one-day visit of Shah slated for March 26 has been called off. However, no reason has so far been cited for the postponement.

There is no official communication from either the central party office or from the office of the Home Ministry in this regard.

The change is believed to have been effected due to some pressing engagement of the Home Minister either in New Delhi or poll-bound Karnataka.

The senior BJP leader was scheduled to undertake a visit to Odisha and attend programmes in Bhadrak on March 26 as part of his Lok Sabha Pravas programme.

Arrangements were underway for his visit to Bhadrak district where he was scheduled to address a public rally in the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency and meet party workers. Some leaders from other parties were expected to join the BJP in the presence of Shah.

The Home Minister was scheduled to visit the Akhandalamani temple in Bhadrak district for darshan at the shrine. Thereafter, Shah was to attend the public meeting at Dhamanagar in the district. Over 50,000 people and party workers from the Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency would have attended the meeting.

The former BJP national president was also slated to hold consultations with senior state party leaders and other office bearers in Bhubaneswar later in the day.
