Dhenkanal: Union Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Secretary Sanjay Jaju, who visited the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal on Saturday, assured full support from the I&B Ministry to help the institute grow into a leading centre of excellence in media and communication education in eastern India.
Jaju inspected the boys’ and girls’ hostels, academic block, audio-video facilities, and the administrative block.
He held detailed discussions with Regional Director Prof. Dr. Anand Pradhan regarding the institute’s current status, academic initiatives, infrastructure needs, and strategic roadmap for expansion.
Prof. Pradhan briefed the I&B Secretary on the challenges faced by the campus and the opportunities ahead, particularly in enhancing academic courses and increasing student capacity.
The need for launching MA postgraduate programmes and strengthening industry-academia engagement were also brought up during the deliberations.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of renovation work, Jaju appreciated the efforts of the entire campus team.
The Union Secretary’s visit reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening regional centres and ensuring inclusive access to quality media education across the country.
