New Delhi: Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri handed over the holy ‘Jore Sahib’ – the footwear of Guru Gobind Singh and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur – to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee’s Moti Bagh Gurdwara on Wednesday, following which Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to visit and have Darshan before the sacred relics start their journey to the Patna Sahib Gurdwara where they will be permanently housed.
“May Guru Charan Yatra deepen our connection with the noble ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji,” PM Modi said.
‘Jore Sahib’ will be taken to Patna in the Nagar Kirtan that will start on Thursday.
“The holy ‘Jore Sahib’, ‘Charan Suhawa’ of the founder of Khalsa Panth, Dasam Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji, have been with our family for over 300 years. Today, I feel humbled that my family will hand over the custody of the holy relics to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee,” Puri said.
A special Kirtan Samagam was held at Gurdwara Moti Bagh, where devotees were able to have a darshan of the holy ‘Jore Sahib’.
“It will then be taken in Guru Charan Yatra and will be permanently placed at the birthplace of Dasam Pita in Takht Sri Patna Sahib, where the devout will be able to pay their obedience and perform darshan,” Puri added.
From Moti Bagh Gurdwara, the relics will travel in a ceremonial procession to Takht Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, where they will eventually be enshrined. Puri said the Yatra will begin on October and reach Faridabad by night.
They will move to Agra the next day and then to Bareilly. On October 26, the relics will travel to Mahangapur. From there, they will be taken to Lucknow. The next stop will be Kanpur. On October 29, they will be moved from Kanpur to Prayagraj. Then they will be taken to Sasaram via Varanasi. On October 31, they will reach Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh in Patna. They will reach the Patna Sahib Gurdwara on the next day.
