‘Unknown Disease’ Claims Lives Of 7 Villagers In Odisha’s Koraput
Koraput: At least 7 people have reportedly died of unknown disease in Odisha’s Koraput district in the last 15 days.
According to sources, as many as 18 persons of Ambedkar Sahi in Kadam village under Semiliguda block of the district have already been affected by the disease. Of the affected persons, 7 have succumbed so far.
All the deceased belonged to Ward 21 of Ambedkar Sahi. While 5 persons died earlier, two others died on Saturday, the reports said.
Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Koraput said they have received information about the death of more than 3 persons due to unidentified disease. A medical team has been deputed to the area to look into the matter and collect samples of blood of the villagers and water consumed by them. Necessary steps would be taken after getting their report, he added.
Meanwhile, Koraput MLA Raghuram Padal, Patangi MLA Pritam Padhi and former MLA of Congress Ram have reached the village to take stock of the situation.
