US Presidential Election: Indian-American Nikki Haley Likely To Challenge Donald Trump

New York: Indian-American politician Nikki Haley is all set to give the US Presidency a shot.

The prominent Republican Party leader is expected to launch her 2024 White House bid on February 15. She will be the first challenger to her former boss, ex-US president Donald Trump, reported PTI.

The 51-year-old Haley was South Carolina governor for six years before serving as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations.

Trump, 76, is currently the sole Republican seeking his party’s 2024 nomination, having launched his bid for a second White House term last year.

According to the Washington Post, Haley could release a video signalling her plans within a few days.

An invitation will soon be going out to her backers, in which her “special announcement” will come on February 15 at the Charleston Visitor Center, The Post and Courier reported.

A South Carolina-based daily confirmed on January 31, quoting a member of Haley’s inner circle, that she will be entering the race.
