Utkal University In Bhubaneswar Joins Hand With BMC To Keep Campus Plastic-Free

Bhubaneswar: The Alumni Association of Utkal University and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday launched an awareness campaign and mass cleaning activity against single-use plastic to make the university campus clean, green and plastic-free, on the occasion of Martyr’s Day.

President of Utkal University Alumni Association and former chief secretary BK Patnaik flagged off the campaign in presence of Suvendu Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation), BMC with a mass pledge to keep the campus free of plastic waste.

Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said, “The campaign will be an ongoing programme. Students, faculty members, shopkeepers, staff and residents in the campus will be involved for a clean environment.”

On his part, Sahoo said, “Utkal University has a great reputation in shaping students’ career and future. BMC will continue to support the campaign to keep its campus plastic-free and green.”

The BMC engaged its Safaikarmis and mechanical sweepers to clean the campus. It donated 10 large dustbins and cloth bags to be put up at different places in the university.
