Vaccine Hesitancy Reduces In India
New Delhi: The turnout for vaccination in the first week was as low as 22 per cent in some states amid apprehensions about the vaccine. This, however, has considerably improved as India became the fastest to vaccinate 10 lakh people.
Apart from fear and misinformation, technical difficulties in the Co-WIN app kept the numbers low.
The Centre and state governments have ramped up campaigns to dispel fears in order to achieve the set target of vaccinating 30 crore people by August.
In Delhi, the protocols have been tweaked to enable more vaccinations per day. People who missed their appointments are being given a chance and also are being given the option of taking the shot at any centre instead of their registered ones. This has increased the number of shots to more than 100 per day.
