Mumbai: If grapevine is to be believed, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan was initially roped in to play the lead role in Harshad Mehta’s biopic. However, later on, the role went to Gujarati actor Pratik Gandhi.
According to a report in SpotboyE, earlier the Harshad Mehta biopic was to be bankrolled by Paresh Rawal’s production company and the filmmakers had signed approached Varun Dhawan for the lead role.
But later the plan was shelved and the rights of making the film were acquired by Sameer Nair and Applause Entertainment, who went on to sign Gujarati actor Pratik Gandhi for the lead role.
The Harshad Mehta biopic titled ‘Scam 1992’ is adapted from journalist Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu’s book, The Scam: Who Won, Who Lost, Who Got Away.
The web series featured Pratik Gandhi as the infamous stockbroker Harshad, while Shreya Dhanwanthary played the journalist and author Sucheta Dalal.
‘Scam 1992’ is helmed by Hansal Mehta and the script has been written by Sumit Purohit, Saurav Dey, Vaibhav Vishal, and Karan Vyas.
