Vehicles torched: Pvt operators not to ply buses to Puri

Bhuubaneswar: Private bus operators in the state have decided to discontinue services to Puri district from Tuesday in protest against torching of three buses by locals at Pipili on Monday afternoon. An irate mob set the buses on fire after a couple was crushed to death under the wheels of one of these vehicles.

“No bus will ply to Puri, Konark, Nimapara and Astaranga from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack till adequate compensation is provided to the bus owners, whose vehicles were set afire by locals,” a member of Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association said.

Those killed in the accident were identified as Hadu Khan and Kuni Bibi.
