Mumbai:Veteran actor Tanuja — mother to actor Kajol and mother-in-law of actor Ajay Devgn — was admitted to a hospital here on Sunday evening due to age-related issues.
According to reports, the 80-year-old actor is under observation at the ICU of a hospital at Juhu. “She is under observation and is doing well. There’s nothing to worry about,” a PTI report said.
Daughter of yesteryear star Shobhna Samarth and producer Kumarsen Samarth, Tanuja has worked extensively in Hindi and Bengali cinema. She has three sisters, including actress Nutan, and a brother. She married filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee in 1973, and has two daughters, actresses Kajol and Tanisha.
Tanuja is known for her roles in films like Baharein Phir Bhi Ayengi, Jewel Thief, Haathi Mere Saathi and Mere Jeevan Sathi, among others. In 1969, she was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for Paisa Ya Pyaar.
