Vigilance Apprehends 2 Forest Officials While Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: Vigilance apprehended a Forest Guard and a Watchman for taking bribe in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Monday.
Following a complaint that Jharana Sahoo, Forest Guard of Banaharpalli Beat under Bandhabahal Forest Section in the district was demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant to give permission and facilitate cutting of trees from his homestead land, the Vigilance set up a trap.
On the direction of the Forest Guard, Sanjay Barik, Watchman of the Forest beat went to take the bribe. While he was receiving the bribe from the complainant, the Vigilance team nabbed him. Sahoo was also present at the spot.
The entire bribe money was recovered from Barik and seized. Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations of Sahoo’s properties from DA angle.
Rourkela Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is in progress against the two accused.
