Berhampur: Vigilance officials on Thursday arrested the Hindi teacher, whose properties at different places were searched on Wednesday, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to known sources of his income.
The Classical Hindi teacher of Josoda High School at Jhandankuli under Rangeilunda block of Ganjam district, Bhubanananda Sahu and his family were found to be in possession properties worth about Rs 5 crore following simultaneous raids on his houses at Berhampur, Bhubaneswar and Puri town.
The Vigilance sleuths conducted searches in Sahu’s houses at Baikuntha Nagar, 2nd Line, Berhampur; 5-storey building at Bramha Nagar, 1st Line, Berhampur; parental house at Kotilingi, Chikiti, Ganjam district; Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandir at Laxmipur, Chikiti and office room at Jasoda High School, Jhandankuli, Berhampur.
Sahu had joined as Classical Hindi Teacher in 2004 on contractual basis and his service was regularised in 2017.
