Vigilance Arrests Labour Officer On Bribe Charge In Odisha’s Nuapada
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested District Labour Officer of Nuapada Sarat Kumar Panigrahi on charges of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40,000.
According to sources, Panigrahi had demanded the bribe from one Srinivas Behera for registration of 200 labourers at the rate of Rs 200 for each labourer. But the registration fee fixed by the government is Rs 70 per labourer.
After Behera complained to the Vigilance, the latter laid a trap and nabbed Panigrahi while accepting the bribe. The bribe money was recovered from his possession.
