Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday unearthed two double-storey buildings and as many plots in Bhubaneswar, deposits over Rs 1.40 crore, gold weighing 500 gram and 2 four-wheelers during raids on Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer (FA & CAO), OSRTC, Bhubaneswar, Bijaya Kumar Mangaraj over allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a Vigilance release, simultaneous searches are being conducted by teams comprising 8 DSPs, 8 inspectors, 9 ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, at seven places in Bhubaneswar and Baripada.
The raids are currently on at the following places:
1) Flat – 301 , Tower – 6, Z1 Estate, Nandankanan Road, Nandan Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
2) Two double-storey building at New colony , Palasuni, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar.
3) Bhuinya Niwas, Dhipasahi, Station Road, Baripada, in Mayurbhanj district
4) Office of Financial Advisor-cum-Chief Accounts Officer of OSRTC, Bhubaneswar.
5) Office of Financial Advisor-cum-Special Secretary, Commerce & Transport , 5th floor , Kharavel Bhawan , Bhubaneswar.
6) Office of Director, Business Development and Finance, ORIDL, 6th Floor, IDCO Tower, Janpath, Bhubaneswar.
The assets unearthed are as follow:
1) two double-storey building at New colony, Palasuni, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar.
2) 2 high-value plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar.
3) Gold weighing around 500 grams.
4) Rs 1,40,12,193 bank deposits and investment in PPF.
5) 2 four wheelers (Hyundai Asta and Kia Setos).
The release further said that it is being suspected that Mangaraj owns a two-storey building at Ernakulam, Kerala, which is being verified. The measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing. Other deposits are being ascertained.
