Vigilance Nabs Junior Clerk While Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Ganjam
Berhampur: Vigilance officials on Sunday apprehended a junior clerk while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Following a complaint from a teacher that Manoj Kumar Pradhan, junior clerk (on deputation) in the office of block education officer, Aska was demanding illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 for preparation and sanction of MACP benefit (financial upgradation) in his favour, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the teacher went to give the bribe as demanded and the Vigilance sleuths caught the junior clerk accepting it red-handed. They recovered the amount from possession of Pradhan and seized it.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted a raid on office and rented house of Pradhan at Bani Bihar, Aska to trace disproportionate assets.
Berhampur Vigilance has registered a case under PC Act, 1988 In this connection, and further investigation is in progress.
