Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said that people should wait for the CBI’s primary investigation to be complete to know the reason for the triple-train accident in Odisha’s Balasore that left 292 people dead.
Stating that the truth needs to come out, the Minister said it is not proper to “go by rumours”.
It may be noted here that the Railway Minister visited Bahanaga in Balasore district on Tuesday and announced Rs 2 crore for the development of the area and the local hospital.
“This is a very very sensitive matter. We should know the actual fact. We should know the technical root cause. Let the CBI’s primary investigation to complete. After this, we will decide about future steps,” Vaishnaw was quoted by PTI as saying.
The CBI was asked to probe into the horrific three-way train accident that took place at Bahanaga in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2. This is one of the worst crashes in the history of Indian Railways.
The central investigating agency has already visited the accident site and questioned several railway personnel apart from examining a number of gadgets and equipment as part of its probe.
The deadly accident occurred when Coromandel Express crashed into a stationary goods train, derailing most of its coaches around 7 pm on June 2. A few of those toppled over the last few coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express which was passing by at the same time.
