[Watch] ASI Team Inspects Heritage Corridor Project Site In Puri
Puri: A joint team of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) and Tata Projects accompanied by Puri Collector Samarth Verma reached the Heritage Corridor Project site on Sunday morning for inspection.
The Orissa High Court, which has advanced the hearing on the project by a week to May 9, has ordered the ASI to submit an affidavit on the ongoing construction under the project by May 7.
Senior officials from ASI’s Puri and Bhubaneswar Circle are part of the team, which will check how deep the soil has been dug for ongoing construction, what steps were taken before construction was started and whether necessary approvals have been obtained, among others.
The project has run into a controversy with allegations that ASI rules governing the protected 12-century Jagannath Temple have been flouted for carrying out construction under the heritage corridor project.
