[Watch] Bhubaneswar ‘Not Smart Enough’ For Rain; Twitterati Share Deluge Of Woes

Bhubaneswar: Even as Bhubaneswar recorded the wettest September with 195 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department on Monday forecast one or two spells of intense rain till 4.30 pm.

Extremely heavy rain under the influence of a deep depression since Sunday has thrown normal life out of gear in the Smart City.

Major road stretches in Jharpada, Nayapalli, Sashtri Nagar, Jaydev Vihar, Bomikhal were flooded with stormwater and sewerage lines blocked and rainwater gushed into shops, houses, and apartments.

Vehicles were seen floating near ISKCON temple at Nayapalli while stormwater inundated the stretch near Gurudwara. While gushing water swamped markets, government quarters of prominent persons were flooded. An ambulance also got stuck on way to a hospital. Some houses built on farmland at Dumuduma have reportedly developed cracks.
