According to sources, a team led by Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner (BMC) zonal deputy commissioner Rabinarayan Jethy along with police reached her office to carry out the order on Saturday.

The BMC notice said the premises will be sealed for 15 days and sanitised during the period. Those who had attended the bash will also undergo COVID-19 test.

Meanwhile, COVID warriors have also written to Bhubaneswar DCP, demanding action against the MP for the offence.

Terming her act as irresponsible and unfortunate, the activists said, “While we are working day and night risking our own lives in the battle against the deadly virus, being a responsible citizen, Sarangi has repeatedly violated the COVID-19 guidelines set by the Government.  Many of our Warriors have laid down their lives fighting against the virus but on the other hand, the MP has put many people’s lives at risk challenging the norms.”
On Friday, Minister of state for home Dibya Shankar Mishra brought the issue to the notice of Union Minister of state for home Nityanand Rai in a letter.
