[Watch] DD Odia Starts News In Santali; President Murmu Expresses Happiness

Bhubaneswar: Doordarshan Odia Channel started broadcasting Santali news on Wednesday. It was broadcast from Doordarshan Kendra in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday) at 11 am.

President Droupadi Murmu has expressed happiness on knowing that the news in Santali language has been started and has thanked Dorodarshan and Information and Broadcasting Ministry for this.

Recently, at the foundation stone laying ceremony of various railway projects in Bangiriposhi, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwani Vaishnaw had promised start of news broadcast in Santali language in DD Odia.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in Odisha, said it is a matter of great joy that Santali news has started on Doordarshan.

Stating that all languages are great, Mishra said Santali news is a symbol of the dreams and aspirations of the Santali community. The news broadcast by Doordarshan, Bhubaneswar will be very helpful for the Santali community to know the news in their own language.

Narasinha Jethi, Head of Doordarshan Kendra and Deputy Director General (Technical) said, DD Odia Channel has started a new chapter by broadcasting news in Santali language. He expressed the hope that it will be very popular among the Santali community.
