Mumbai: Trust Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh to do something different to mark a special occasion.
DeepVeer, as the high-profile Bollywood is known to his fans, rang in the new year with an intimate dinner where the couple celebrated their much-appreciated film ‘83’.
Ranveer took to Instagram to share a video which gives fans a glimpse of their celebration.
Ranveer asks Deepika, “Having fun, baby?”
Deepika takes a moment before pulling off an answer that leaves Ranveer chuckling in appreciation.
“We here to enjoy, what else we here for?” Deepika says, imitating the legendary Kapil Dev who led India to the epochal World Cup triumph in 1983.

Ranveer has played Kapil in the iconic Kabir Khan-directed film which released in theatres on December 24, 2021.
Ranveer, asked by a British journalist what are India’s chances ahead of the tournament, comes up with a Kapil-like answer in his diction: “We here to win, what else we here for?”

Spoken English was not the strong point of Kapil, who burst onto international cricket at the age of 19 as a strapping fast bowler from Haryana. He went on to revolutionise pace bowling in India and became one of the world’s all-time great fast bowlers.
Deepika, who plays the role of Kapil’s wife Romi, came in for high praise for her mimicry.
Actor Saqib Saleem, who also features in ‘83’, commented that Deepika pulled off Kapil’s talking style better than the man himself.
