[Watch] Fire Breaks Out On Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express At Cuttack Station

Cuttack: A fire broke out on the Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express at Cuttack railway station on Thursday morning.

According to sources, passengers panicked after spotting the fire beneath a coach when the train halted on Platform 2 at 6.30 am while en route to Howrah from Bhubaneswar. They were then asked to get off the train by RPF personnel and fire fighters, who then brought the blaze under control.

The passengers were allowed inside their coaches after 30 minutes and the train resumed its onward journey after technical examination by the Railway engineers.

“Due to brake-binding (brake not released from wheel), 12074 Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express was detained at Cuttack railway station from 6.30a m. After releasing the brake from the wheel, the train departed from Cuttack at about 7:15 am. The cause of non-release of brake being investigated. There is no fire inside the coach,” the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a statement.

The ECoR spokesperson termed it as a minor fire incident.
