Bhubaneswar: A forest guard erupted with joy as rain aided her efforts to douse the raging wildfire in Similipal National Park in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district or around two weeks.
In a video, forester Sneha Dhal, who has been working 24×7 to put out the fire which endangered the flora and fauna of Asia’s largest biosphere, can be heard saying that the rain is nothing but divine intervention. “Let it rain more. Bring on more rain. Hurrah! all fire spots in my area are gone. I am very happy,” she expressed loud in the rain.

Much to the relief of personnel engaged in the task of dousing the forest fires, rainfall accompanied by hailstorm lashed many parts of Pithabata Forest Range (North) and other parts under Similipal forest on Wednesday afternoon.
Every day, Forest department personnel trekked 10 to 15 km through difficult terrain tackling the fire.
Based on the satellite picture captured from radar in Paradip, the Regional Meteorological Centre had predicted light to moderate rain in the district.
