Watch: A Game of Cricket On Bandh-Deserted Street Of Cuttack
Cuttack: The ever-crowed Badambadi here wore a deserted look following a bandh called by the Congress, protesting against the skyrocketing fuel price, on Monday.
While passengers were left stranded at the bus stop that witnessed no activity during the day, the open field was inviting enough for District Congress president Mohammad Moquim to play a game of cricket on the Main Chhak.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the Millennium City for extending full support to the bandh, Moquim said, “The Narendra Modi government will be burnt alive in the fire ignited by the fuel price rise. There is too much anger among people over the inefficacy of the Centre in tackling important issues. The traders’ wing too joined us in the game in a show of solidarity to the cause.”
The Congress leader was seen facing several deliveries on the street with party workers cheering for him.
During the nine-hour bandh, Congress activists blocked the main roads at Badambadi, College Square, railway station area, Madhupatna, High Court area, Sikharpur and Collectorate area. They also detained the Howrah-Chennai Superfast Express while protesting at the railway station.
