Madrid (Spain): When asked about the national language of India in Spain, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who is leading an all-party delegation to the foreign country as part of India’s outreach programme following Operation Sindoor, gave a befitting reply.
She responded by saying that the national language of India is ‘Unity in Diversity’. It sent a message her delegation aims to convey to the world.

“The national language of India is unity and diversity. That is the message this delegation brings to the world, and that is the most important thing today,” she said while replying to a question from a member of the Indian diaspora in Madrid.
The question came against the backdrop of a recent fierce tussle between the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and the Centre over language. This was particularly concerning the three-language formula in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
On the question about terrorism, she she, “So much has to be done in our country and we want to do that. Unfortunately, we are being diverted. We have to deal with terrorism, war which is absolutely unnecessary”. The DMK MP added that India is a safe place. She also stated the Indian government will ensure that Kashmir is safe.
“As Indians, we have to make the message clear that India is safe. They may try whatever they want, they cannot derail us. We will ensure that Kashmir remains a safe place,” she said.
Spain is the final leg of the Kanimozhi-led delegation’s five-nation visit. After this, she will return to India. The team includes Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Kumar Rai, BJP’s Brijesh Chowta, AAP’s Ashok Mittal, Prem Chand Gupta of the RJD and former diplomat Manjeev Singh Puri.
