[Watch] Jan Aushadhi Yojana: Beneficiary From Odisha Shares Experience With PM

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with Jan Aushadhi Kendra owners and beneficiaries of the scheme via video-conferencing.

‘Jan Aushadhi Week’ is being celebrated across the country from March 1 to generate awareness about the use of generic medicines. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya too participated in the event.

Interacting with beneficiaries from different states, Modi asked Suresh Chandra Behera from Bhubaneswar about his experience with Jan Aushadhi Yojana. The PM also asked whether all the medicines needed by him are available at the Jan Aushadhi store.

Behera, who is divyang, said that he gets all the medicines from the store and saves Rs 2,000-2,500 every month.

The PM said as of now more than 8,500 Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened in the country.

Modi said that a few days back, the government has taken another big decision, which will benefit poor and middle-class children. “We have decided that half the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with government medical colleges,” he said.
