Patna: Trust Lalu Prasad Yadav to come up with the unexpected and make people laugh.
Addressing a joint press conference with other leaders after a meeting of Opposition parties here on Friday, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief praised Rahul Gandhi before bringing up the issue of his marriage.
“Rahul Gandhi did a very good job in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and spoke well in the Lok Sabha on the Adani group row… In dino Rahul ji ne accha kaam kiya aur dari bhi bada liya… Abhi bhi deri nahi hua hain, shaadi kar lijiye (Rahul ji has been doing good work these days and grown a beard too.. it’s still not late, get married),” Lalu advised Rahul, much to others’ amusement.
“Shadi kariye, aur hum log baraati chale (get married, we’ll go as baaratis),” Lalu said, recalling how Sonia Gandhi wanted Rahul to tie the knot.
“Your mother asked me to convince you to get married.. you must get married,” Lalu said.
An embarrassed Rahul said, “It will happen since you said.”
Rahul, who turned 53 recently, is single and has gone on record as saying that he will get married when the “right girl” who has to be “loving and intelligent” comes along.
