Kolkata: As she had promised two days ago, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was back on the campaign trail on Sunday on a wheelchair, with her left foot in a cast.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo travelled by car from her south Kolkata residence to Mayo Road in central Kolkata before getting down, settling on a wheelchair and leading a roadshow to mark Nandigram Day.
Accompanied by senior TMC leaders, including nephew Abhishek by her side, and some filmstars, Mamata greeted the crowd with folded hands as security personnel pushed her wheelchair along the nearly 6 km route to Hazra junction.

“I may be hurt, but an injured tiger is more dangerous… We will continue our fight and won’t let conspirators win,” she said.
“Please excuse me, I have to leave early for Durgapur from where I will attend a number of meetings in the next few days,” she said.
Earlier, she tweeted: “We will continue to fight boldly! I’m still in a lot of pain, but I feel the pain of my people even more. In this fight to protect our revered land, we have suffered a lot and will suffer more but we will NEVER bow down to COWARDICE!”
On Wednesday evening, Mamata was injured at Nandigram when she was greeting people from her car. She had claimed a group of four or five people pushed her deliberately. She cut short her visit and returned to Kolkata that night and was admitted to SSKM Hospital.
