[Watch] Man Carries Minor Daughter’s Body On Two-Wheeler In Odisha’s Kendrapada
Kendrapada: A video of a man carrying the body of his minor daughter in Chhachina village under Derabis police limits in the district has once again raised questions on Odisha government’s Mahaprayan scheme.
In the video the man, identified as Sunakar Kandi, was carrying his 6-year-old daughter Baishali on his two-wheeler with a pillion holding the body. According to reports, Baishali was bitten by a poisonous snake on Tuesday. She was rushed to district hospital by her family members where the doctor declared her dead.
After post-mortem, Sunakar and his brother carried her body on a two-wheeler after they were allegedly not provided vehicle under Mahaprayan scheme. Under the scheme, the State government provides transportation facilities to carry bodies from government hospitals to their homes free of cost.
Some passersby spotted the bike with a black polythene and found it suspicious. Suspecting something foul, they intercepted Sunakar and to their shock found it to be his daughter’s body.
Sunakar said after post-mortem he was asked to take the body and he opted to carry the body on his two-wheeler. The medical authorities could not be reached for comment.
