Bhubaneswar: Pakistani Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan’s fiery tirade, which contained both threats and religious rhetoric, has added fuel to the already simmering tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack.
During the 348th session of Pakistan’s Senate on April 29, Senator Palwasha Khan, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and deputy information secretary, made inflammatory comments about the Babri mosque, demolished in 1992.
“The first brick of the new Babri Mosque in Ayodhya would be laid by Pakistan Army soldiers, with the first Azaan delivered by Army Chief General Asim Munir. We are not wearing bangles,” she declared.
She further suggested that a “Pakistani Muslim government” would eventually rule the Indian subcontinent, bracketing it as a Hindu-Muslim conflict. “There is no doubt, this enmity is not with Pakistan or Pakistanis; this is enmity against Muslims and against Islam,” she said.
The senator attempted to stir religious divisions within the Indian armed forces, claiming, “The Sikh army will not attack Pakistan because it’s the land of Guru Nanak for them.”
She also lauded Khalistani separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, who had earlier declared that 20 million Sikhs stand with Pakistan “like a brick wall” and warned that the Indian Army would not be allowed to pass through Punjab to attack Pakistan.
