Bhubaneswar: The total phase of the lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan of Sunday (September 7, 2025) has started, reported the ANI. The Earth’s shadow has started covering the Moon since 9:58 PM. The sight is visible across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

This lunar eclipse, which is the second one for this year, had also produced a blood moon. Visuals of the blood moon had flooded social media as people from different parts of India shared photos of the event. According to experts, the total lunar eclipse will peak around 11.48 pm. It will end around 12:22 am. The lunar eclipse would last for a little over 48 minutes across India, experts claimed.

The eclipse will be visible through naked eye. The eclipse will also be visible in Australia, the Far East, the Middle East, Europe and some parts of Africa. But neither North nor South America will witness the celestial event.

“It’s a full moon today! 🌕Skywatchers in most of Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia may also see a lunar eclipse, or Blood Moon. Totality will begin around 1730 UTC and last for about 82 minutes,” NASA wrote on its official X handle.
