Baripada: Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu has landed in another controversy during campaign for panchayat elections in Mayurbhanj district.
The Union minister had gone to campaign in support of BJP candidates in the third phase of the panchayat election to the district. While addressing a meeting in Kochiladisha panchayat under Udala block, he spoke about the failures of the BJD government in the state.
During his speech, Tudu was found liberally using unparliamentary words while condemning the activities of the state government. Ironically, the party candidates and other leaders of the district present at the meeting neither alerted him nor tried to prevent him from repeatedly uttering the foul words in his speech.

The Union minister lashed out at chief minister and secretaries of different departments while stating that they were looting the Central fund meant for different welfare schemes in Odisha. Even as the Centre has been providing the funds for development of tribals and farmers, the state government is using the money to promote its the chief minister and BJD, he alleged.
It may be noted that Tudu, who represents Mayurbhanj constituency in the Lok Sabha, had allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra while the latter had gone to hold a meeting with him at his office in Baripada on January 21. The officers had filed police complaint in this regard, while the Union Minister was granted interim bail by the Orissa High Court.
