New Delhi: Haryana YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, was guarded by at least six men armed with AK-47 rifles while she roamed around Anarkali Bazar in Lahore. This sight even shocked a Scottish YouTuber— Callum Mill, who was also travelling in Pakistan at that time in March, wondered why Malhotra needed so much security.

Mill has a YouTube channel called Callum Abroad. A video he shot during a visit to Lahore’s Anarkali Bazar shows armed men wearing jackets with “No Fear” written on them surrounding Malhotra. In the video, Callum introduces himself as a Scottish YouTuber and Jyoti asks him if it was his first visit to Pakistan. Callum responds stating that he had visited the country five times. She also asks him if he has been to India. Malhotra introduces herself as an Indian. When Callum asks Malhotra to share what she thinks about Pakistan’s hospitality, Jyoti says, “It’s great”.

This video adds to the suspicion regarding the reception and access enjoyed by Jyoti Malhotra in Pakistan. She was invited to high-profile parties there and met security and intelligence officials there. Cops had claimed Malhotra had remained in touch with them even after her return to India. Her digital devices are now being scanned.

Malhotra’s finances are also being probed. Police claimed to have found that she enjoyed a lavish lifestyle not in sync with her known sources of income. According to reports quoting police sources, she always travelled first class on flights. She stayed in plush hotels and dined in high-end restaurants. Police also claimed that her trip to Pakistan was sponsored. She also travelled to China and was found moving in luxury cars there. She allegedly visited expensive jewellery shops in China.
