Bhubaneswar: Modern families, mostly nuclear, have several challenges. Highlighting them and some more, city-based production house, TechnoArt Productionz, released a web series last week.
‘Bunk’, the first episode of the video, titled ‘Welcome To The Family’ released on Friday and has garnered 16,906 views till now. Every new episode will be uploaded on their YouTube channel ‘TechnoArt Productionz’, on Fridays.
The first episode is about bunking classes and the fear Dev, played by Debasish Sahoo, faces after having done it. It explores the possibilities of how his father might react to the situations, and if his siblings can save him.
Writer Roshan Bisoi said he had a vague idea about a sketch. One day, he tried to draft a skeleton around the idea and it took him a week to finish writing it. “It is a simple family drama about a father and his two children. With four episodes, we have tried to tackle some common issues that a modern family commonly faces or might face. Though the first two episodes will take you to a warmer place, gradually it takes an unexpected turn. It’s our sincere attempt at mature family issues,” Roshan said.
Producer and director, Anupam Patnaik believes digital is the new TV. “With creative liberty, and genres to explore, making a web series gives way to all forms of content. We hope people see and appreciate the changing forms of content in the coming days,” he added.
Welcome To The Family caters to the urban youth who have a different relationship with parents than the previous generation. “It deals with mature subjects in a lighter manner,” Anupam further said.
While Devika Arundhati plays the role of Devika, Susil Mishra can be seen as Devendranath Das. Anurag Patnaik adds some colour to the web series, and Deven Mishra has edited the entire series. Deepak Kumar has worn the cinematographer’s hat. The executive producer of the series is Barsha Patnaik.
The first Odia Horror Web Series – Panic Shorts made by the production house, was hugely successful. They had also produced Saheb Biwi Aur Sala, Tike Sata Tike Micha before. The production house is popular for having produced classic Odia movies like Hakim Babu, Mamata Mage Mula, Tulasi Apa.
