Kolkata: Team India have a big task on hand to qualify for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup.
Having opted to bowl first in a virtual quarterfinal at Eden Gardens, the men in blue saw the West Indies post an impressive 195/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
Skipper Shai Hope (32) and Roston Chase (40) provided the West Indies a brisk 68-run start. India bounced back with three quick wickets, including two in an over by Jasprit Bumrah.
Having pushed the West Indies to 119/4 in 14. 1 overs, India looked to restrict the maroon brigade to somewhere around 170. However, a rollicking unbeaten partnership of 76 runs between Rovman Powell (34* off 19, 3×4, 2×6) and Jason Holder (37* off 22, 2×4, 3×6) guided the West Indies close to 200.
India were left to rue a couple of dropped catches by Abhishek Sharma, and two missed run-out opportunities.
They will need a record chase to avoid getting eliminated from the Super Eights stage.
