Western Odisha Sizzles As Mercury Shoots Up To 44 Degree Celsius in 7 Places; Titlagarh Hottest

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to reel under heatwave on Wednesday with as many as 19 places registering maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more compared to eight places on Tuesday.

According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, 7 places in western Odisha sizzled with mercury reaching 44 degree Celsius on the day.

Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state recording maximum temperature of 45.2 degree Celsius. It was followed by Bhawanipatna with 44.6 degree, Sonepur 44.6, Balangir 44.3,  Jharsuguda 44.2, Sambalpur 44.1 and Bargarh with 44 degree.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered day temperature of 36.6 and 37 degree Celsius respectively.

The IMD has issued yellow warning for some places in western Odisha for next two days. It has forecast that heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in Sambalpur, Sonepur, Balangir, Boudh districts on Thursday.

Similarly, heatwave has been forecast in one or two places of Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada,
Boudh, Jharsuguda and Kalahandi districts on Friday.
