Mumbai: Actress and activist Swara Bhasker has once again landed in trouble for asking netizens to support a Gaza rally in Mumbai.
The rally, organised by a coalition of left-leaning political outfits and civil society groups including CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, Samajwadi Party, AIFB, RPI (Secular) among others, is scheduled to be held at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on June 18.
Sharing the rally poster on her official X handle, Swara wrote, “Mumbai.. Show up for Palestine on 18 June! 🇵🇸❤️✨#stopthegenocideinpalestine.”
The poster urges the Indian government to “revise its official stance on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.”
Swara’s post, which went viral, irked a section of netizens, who called her out for not taking a stand for the Pahalgam victims and minorities in other countries.
One user wrote, “Why do you always protest for only one side? What about the victims in Pahalgam or the persecuted minorities in other parts of the world?”
Another person stated, “If you really care, go to Palestine instead of doing PR events in Mumbai.”
Some even urged authorities to look into the legality of such rallies and Swara’s involvement in it by tagging the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.
