Khurda: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railways is celebrating women empowerment by running a ‘Women’s Special Goods Train’ from Khurda Road to Palasa.
All the crew members in this train, including the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot and guard are women. The crew members include Munni Tigga as the loco pilot, Rajeswari Biswal as assistant loco pilot and Revati Singh as the guard.
The train, which started on Friday left Khurda Road at 10:30 am and reached Palasa at 5:30pm. Upon return, the special train left Palasa at 5:45 am today for Khurda.
The division has also provided lady running rooms at various stations for the convenience of the women staff.
The Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway is observing ‘International Women’s Day Campaign’ from March 1 to 10 this year.
