Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar graced the Inauguration Of Cyber Awareness Month held at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai on Friday.
At the event, the actor shared a dark anecdote involving his 13-year-old daughter Nitara, who was asked to share her nude pictures which playing online games.
Sharing the details of the incident, which took place a couple of months back, Akshay elucidated, “While you are playing, sometimes a message comes from there…Then a message came, Are you male or female? So, she replied female. And then he sent a message. ‘Can you send me nude pictures of yours?’ It was my daughter. She switched off the whole thing and went and told my wife.”
The actor further continued, while his daughter was smart and prompt enough to share the incident with her mother, Twinkle Khanna, there are cases in which children often fall prey to such criminals.
He added, “This is how things begin. This is also a part of cybercrime…I would request the Chief Minister that in our Maharashtra state, every week in the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth standards, there should be a period called cyber period where children should be explained about it. You all know that this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime…”
The actor also appealed the government to include cyber education as a weekly subject for students in schools, to keep them informed about the dire consequences of cybercrime.
Other eminent personalities present at the event, included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Director General of Police (Maharashtra) Rashmi Shukla, IPS Iqbal Singh Chahal and Rani Mukerji among others.
