Mumbai: Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s tumultuous love story has always been a topic of speculation, but the actors have always maintained a dignified silence about it.
Now, ace ad film director, Prahlad Kakkar dropped some big revelations about Salman and Aishwarya’s relationship and breakup.
In an interview with Vickey Lalwani for his YouTube channel, Prahlad, who lives in the same building where Aishwarya lived, disclosed that Salman was quite obsessed with the actress.
The ‘Dabangg’ actor used to get physical with Ash and even bang his head against the wall during arguments.
“He had been very physical with her and obsessive. How do you deal with somebody like that? I knew because I was living in the same building. He used to make scenes in the foyer, he would bang his head on the wall. The relationship had ended long before it officially ended. It was a relief for everyone, her parents, her, the whole world,” the ad director said.
However, what hurt Ash most was not the breakup with Salman, but the betrayal by the industry.
Opening up about how Ash’s breakup with Salman impacted her career, Prahlad added, “What hurt her the most was being abandoned by the industry for Salman. She really felt that betrayal… She wasn’t upset about the breakup. She was upset that everybody took Salman’s side and not hers. The truth was on her side. She didn’t trust the industry anymore because it wasn’t playing fair. I could understand if she was wrong and the other party was right, or if both sides were treated equally. But nothing, it was completely one-sided.”
Aishwarya and Salman reportedly started dating during the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1999. After being in a relationship for nearly 3 years, the couple broke up in 2002.
In 2007, Ash tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan.
Amid rumours of a possible rift between Ash and Abhishek, Prahlad has set the records straight by stating that the actress is still a Bachchan Bahu.
Rubbishing rumours about Aishwarya not moving out of her marital home even after marriage, the ad maker said, “I don’t think there is any truth (to them). I live in the same building, and I know how much time Aish spends in the building, and there’s a valid reason for that. Her mother is unwell. She drops her daughter to the Ambani school, and she has to pick her up at 1 pm, so she has three hours to kill. She spends those three hours with her mother. Then she picks up her daughter and goes home”.
When asked about the bitter relationship between mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan and Ash, Prahlad shrugged, “So what? She’s still the bahu of the house. She still runs the house”.
He added, “Everyone is saying she’s escaping from her marriage and living with her mother. But she’s only visiting her mother in the mornings while her daughter is at school. Sundays she didn’t come. I knew she is very close to her mother and was very concerned about her. Sometimes, Abhishek also came. So what’s the big deal? Why would he come if she was running away from him”.
He concluded, “She has always maintained her dignity, right through her career.”
