When Indian Railways Issued A Demolition Notice To Lord Hanuman!

Bhopal: It was an embarrassment the Indian Railways could have done without.

Railway authorities issued a notice to Lord Hanuman for alleged encroachment on government land in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena district.

The notification, issued on February 8, warned that the district administration will demolish the Hanuman temple if not removed within seven days, PTI reported. It also stated that the money spent in demolishing the structures built on encroached land will be recovered from Lord Hanuman.

The notice was pasted on the temple wall.

There was to be no respite in this age of social media. It went viral on social media and triggered a controversy.

The Railways then woke up and rectified the mistake by issuing a fresh notice in the name of the temple’s priest Harishankar Sharma.

Manoj Mathur, public relations officer of Jhansi Railway division, admitted that the initial notice was served mistakenly to ‘Bajrang Bali, Sabalgarh’ by the senior section engineer of Jhansi division.

Railways want the structure to be removed for the construction of Sheopur-Gwalior broad gauge line.
